About this campaign
Healthy Smiles India is envisioned as a comprehensive, school-based preventive oral healthcare movement, designed to cultivate lifelong oral hygiene habits among students from Class 1 to Post Graduation. The campaign combines engaging oral health awareness sessions with practical demonstrations, interactive activities and the distribution of a Healthy Smiles Oral Care Kit — educating students before dental problems arise, and equipping them with the knowledge, skills and tools to maintain healthy teeth and gums for life. Beyond students, the initiative engages teachers, parents, healthcare professionals and community volunteers, carried out across schools and colleges statewide in Karnataka.
The Challenge
Millions of children live with preventable dental pain.
Oral health remains one of the most overlooked aspects of child health in India. Millions of children suffer from preventable dental diseases — tooth decay, gum infections, poor oral hygiene — due to limited awareness, inadequate access to preventive care, and the absence of structured oral health education in schools. These gaps are more pronounced in rural, underserved and economically disadvantaged communities, where access to preventive dental care is often limited. Healthy Smiles India is UZAK Charitable Trust's school-based preventive oral healthcare movement, reaching students from Class 1 to Post Graduation with awareness sessions, practical demonstrations, and a Healthy Smiles Oral Care Kit worth ₹500 per student.
The most common reasons: Limited awareness of proper brushing technique, lack of access to quality oral hygiene products, high consumption of sugary foods and drinks, delayed identification of dental problems, and no routine oral health education in schools.
The Solution
Here's how we're changing that.
A structured, hands-on session in every school.
Each participating institution hosts a structured oral health awareness session led by trained dental professionals and volunteers, following a Learn, Practice, Protect, Sustain model. Over 60 to 90 minutes, students take part in a live tooth-brushing demonstration, an interactive quiz, a healthy-food-versus-sugary-food activity, and a Q&A with dental experts, before taking the Healthy Smile Pledge. It's a hands-on experience, not just a lecture — so every student leaves understanding not only why oral health matters, but exactly how to practise it every day.
₹500 gives one student a lifetime of healthier habits.
Every participant receives a Healthy Smiles Oral Care Kit worth ₹500 — a soft-bristle toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, a tongue cleaner, dental floss, alcohol-free mouthwash, a two-minute brushing timer, and a simple oral hygiene guide. If you'd rather give your time, the campaign welcomes dentists, dental and medical students, teachers, NSS and NCC volunteers, corporate CSR teams and community leaders to help run sessions in schools. Whether you sponsor a kit or lead a session, you're giving a child the tools and knowledge to protect their smile for life.
