What We Do

Healthcare

Care that reaches the last mile.

Maternal and child health, nutrition drives, immunisation, screenings and awareness camps bring essential care to villages without a clinic.

This work is part of UZAK’s holistic approach to community development in Kolar District and beyond — pairing immediate support with the skills and systems that make change last. In practice, that means Maternal & child health, nutrition & wellness drives, health camps & screenings, and community health worker training.

3 real events conducted in this focus area so far — see them below.

What we do here

  • Maternal & child health
  • Nutrition & wellness drives
  • Health camps & screenings
  • Community health worker training

For many families in and around Kolar District, the nearest reliable healthcare isn't around the corner — it's a journey, and often one that means lost wages and a full day away from work or school. UZAK's healthcare work is built around closing that distance: bringing screenings, consultations and preventive care directly into communities through multi-specialty health camps run with partner hospitals and medical colleges, rather than waiting for people to find their way to a clinic.

The emphasis throughout is on prevention over treatment — nutrition drives for schoolchildren, maternal and child health support, and awareness sessions on the everyday habits that keep a family out of the hospital in the first place. Community health worker training extends that reach further still, building local capacity so care doesn't depend on UZAK volunteers being physically present every time.
